What medium to mix plastic coloring?

Recommended Posts

What can I use to mix plastic coloring in? I am not using it with plastic nor am I heating it. I want to put some type of liquid in a cup and add plastic coloring to it. I want the liquid to take on the color of the coloring like it does in plastic. I understand that plastic coloring is oil based and would assume that some type of oil would be used. Thanks.

I think I might understand what your saying.

I have been playing with mixing colors for about 8-10 months now. the medium you use is softener. softener is clear.

However you will need a 3 roll mill to mix the medium(softener) and color together other wise it will not mix at all. I am assuming your going to use a powder?

If your thinking of using colors already mixed you still use softener. however you still need a three roll mill to mix the colors so they dont settle.

We have done a tremendous amount of research in colors for the last 8-10 months trying to come up with colors we want to sell taht will not settle like the colors avail out there now. We have tried about every way of mixing you can imagine and nothing and I mean nothing works, we basically took over where calhoun plastics stopped.

Three rolled mills are avail but they are extreamly expensive 5k-20k for a used one in so so shape and these are very small units.

We are in the process of building one just for mixing colors.

Oh I should say my wife April has done 90% of the color research and playing. she just makes me do the dirty work.
