Dink Master
I think you have the wire insert backwards ? Walking Dead
Yeah he, put them in backwards on purpose to make a chatter bait like bait with a free swinging hook. Only took a little bend in the wire.
Skimpy
I saw some people making chatterbaits with the new poison tail swing jig. They looked great. I Can't wait to get my mold. Would love to try it out.
bryanmc
How are you going to close the loop in the back? Is the wire stiff enough that just bending the loop closed will be enough? Edited October 26, 2016 by bryanmc
Walking Dead
I use pliers to close the loop on the front and back. Wire is plenty stiff to keep the hook secure. This is their wire form for this mold and they have another for their herring mold.

My bad, Bladed Jig Try the #2 Connector Links & a Spinnerbait Hook. http://www.barlowstackle.com/Connector-Links-P835.aspx I tried the #1, and found the wire too thin to trust. What is the gauge of the #2 wire?
Walking Dead
.053, all three wires the same. Used them as well and never had it open.
mark poulson
Well, I bought some, along with some spinnerbait hooks, and my buddy poured some 1/2 oz. heads for me to make chatterbaits. I don't trust the wire to hold on a big fish. He also poured me some arkie 1/2 oz. head jigs, with heavier Mustad 4/0 hooks, and I wound up opening up the eye with an awl and using them for chatterbaits. That softer wire might hold, but I don't want to find out on a good fish.
Walking Dead
50/50 options. I lost a many good fish just on a hook: no wire. Also caught some good fish on some light wire hooks on floss for line.

I like how versatile you can be using the connector links.(hooks) Lite hooks, Spinnerbait hooks & Flipping hooks. I will have to do some kind of test on the connectors in my garage, in the near future. I have a few top west coast fisherman using some of my baits with no problems. You should be fishing chatterbaits with a glass chatterbait rod. Mark are you coming down to the Bass-A-Thon ?

Jeff Hahn
I have used the size 2 connector link, discussed above, on a lot of my bladed jigs. I have caught lots of bass, as well as northern pike over 10 pounds, on them and never had one show any signs of being weak or opening up. Walking Dead
Agree JH. Too many other things are more than likely a fail before the wire connectors; knots, line, human.
wishn4fishn
I tested out a bladed swinging poison tail today that I just cut the line tie loop open at the bottom and flush against the head and opened up just enough to get the blade in then closed it back up and it worked fine. Are they called something else besides "connector links"I'm not looking for the regular wire form. I was wondering about the size #2 connector links Edited November 24, 2016 by Skimpy
