shastaron
Anybody out there pouring the newest larger size Herring Head Jig Molds? The 3/4-1 1/2 oz. If so what size Willowleaf blades are you putting on it?
LimpNoodle
I've got the mold and poured a few. Haven't hit the water to test them but I'm going to try a #4 on the smallest and try and get a #5 to work on the 1.5. I'll also have size 4.5 with me. With the original the biggest I could get to work properly was a 3.5.
walleye warrior
Any problems with incomplete pours? I tried a dozen yesterday and only got 4 complete pours when loaded with hook and blade keeper
Walking Dead
Hot mold, hot lead, full pot. Had to have mold very hot, lead on 7. And pot full for weight.
smalljaw
I don't have the herring head mold as I use a modified ultra minnow mold for those. If I was making the larger herring heads based off of my own lures and ones I've watched people using, I'd go with a #4 for the 3/4oz and a #4.5 for the rest.
LimpNoodle
I also use Drop Out on my molds. I get some of the collars that didn't pour fully but since I modded the mold it's not a problem.
