mark poulson
Well, I shot myself in the foot again. When setting up my shop in my rental garage I bought and installed three 4' LED shop lights over my work area. They give off a ton of light! I can actually see when I'm doing again! Unfortunately, part of the light they give off is UV, and my dipping jar of Solarez, which sits directly under the LED lights, wound up gelled. So now I use only the old fluorescents, which don't give off UV, that are higher up near the 11' ceiling when I dip, and I just received another quart of Solarez Dual Cure resin. School is expensive! mark poulson
Have you tried plasti dip? I really like it but man it can be difficult at times. No, I haven't. I tried a spray-on clear matte electrical insulation, when I was trying to get a soft covering for my hard swimbaits, but not Plasti Dip. I've been happy with Solarez, because it is fishable in three minutes under a UV light, and I'm impatient. The new stuff I have doesn't say gloss on the can, like the old stuff did, so the jury is still out on whether or not I'll like it. Tomorrow will be the test. TrophyFishR
Plasti dip gets cloudy looking if you spray when AT is below 70 degrees. Otherwise it's quick & Easy, but it's got fumes like krylon rattle cans. So I had to quit spraying in garage & started spraying outdoors. Not too many 70 degree days in wintertime in the Ozarks. Does solarez have a strong odor like acetone? Also, do you normally wear a respirator during the clear process?
KennyP
There is a little trick the car guys use when spraying Plasti -Dip, submerge the can in a warm container of water for a while, thins it down for a nice even coat.

I wear a 3M half face respirator with a 6001 filter cartridge. It's for organic fumes, and I bought it at Home Depot. http://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Medium-Paint-Project-Respirator-6211PA1-A/100653900
