highwayman
My father-in law gave me an older (1950's) Shop Smith.I've turner out quite a few lures with it.Poppers\chuggers are a piece of cake.Through wire drilling is pretty easy with this unit. There are all kinds of things you can do with wood or PVC.Nice buy; you won't be sorry. JimP
A Shop Smith was the first real woodworking tool I owned. They are actually good tools. The switch from tool to tool is the main complaint that most people have. Just think ahead in logical order to keep from switching back and forth more often than necessary. If I recall correctly most tool setups are less than a minute so an occasional slip up that requires you to re-tool is not a disaster. You can do any lure making function with that tool. I now have a shop with free standing tools and I still miss that old "Shop Smith Mark V" Have Fun!

I used one a few times and absolutely hated it for the switching and found myself grabbing hand tools at times instead. It is great for guys with limited space and very popular with the snowbirds in Arizona. Last month I almost had one however. A guy down the street had one sitting in his garage near the door on Thursday and I figured he was going to put it out on the curb. Following morning nothing there when dropping the kids off, thirty minutes later on my way back a guy a few doors down from me was loading it up from the curb into his truck. I was going to set it up to use as a drum sander.
