dlaery
anyone try this? I am thinking of one of the sand blasting cabinets to take off baked on powder paint off of lead head jigs.
stretcher66
i am not sure if a soda blaster would take it off, i know the sand blasting will but am not sure if it would weaken the hooks without being taped off first. a soda blaster might be less abrasive on hooks. dlaery
thanks! Im not going to do the hooks, these would be in some aluminum racks and I would like to take the paint off of the aluminum racks also. I have a lot of painted jigs I would like to sandblast. one other thing is I was wanting to remove the lead casting parting line on jigs also,
Basseducer
I tried this with my hobby blaster. I used 220 grit media with the pressure turned up to 95 psi. It managed to dull the paint and the finish on the hook eye. After repeated passes it did not get through the paint. For me, the time spent and the materials used were not worth the results. I get faster results with some paint stripper. Maybe some more aggressive media would work better.
dlaery
thanks for trying that! now I know not to buy a sandblaster. I have stripped a lot of jigs and its not worth the time either.
