woodsac
Best concerns for all. My Wife and I got an e-mail from some (almost) family yesterday. They were just letting us know that they were on their way out to higher ground. They live in Cape Canaveral.
redg8r
Yup, Stay safe guys, I know we got Art Brush & cflbasser both in central florida, I'm in the southwest part of the state but Im getting good winds right now. Whats scary is that central & southwest florida already had it out with Charley a couple weeks ago & theres ALOT of debris already piled everywhere, including here. clemmy
Thanks Guys! Here outside Tampa we got some of Charley, but not the brunt of it (just some shingles/lawn furniture, etc) The good news is Frances has come down from 145 mph to around 105...still horrible if it hits you directly, but better than it was looking (we were thinking another Andrew)... The worst part'll probally bethe rains, as it's moving slowly there's predictions of 10 -15" in less than a day...
deadlystreamer
For all you guys with Family and friends in Fl and GA area, Our prayers are with you. So glad to see the winds have come down off that 140mph mark, 105 is bad enough. That is a lot of water in an hour's time. Hope you are all safe through this. On a lighter side, This is what the yahoo instant messenger said about Mi weather today. Lansing Mi Light snow -9 F Actually it's 87 right now. Art Brush
We made it ok... damnedable storms Haven't heard from cflbasser or Mallard yet. Hope they fared the storm well. With any luck Ivan will fizzle out and won't hit land next weekend. Yes Cj I took precautions to protect everyones molds and lures. Those are some cool lures. I didn't know they had a sliding ballast Tight lines, Shawn
cavu
I'm sitting here in Mexico Beach, Fl watching it mist rain. We got one nice wind storm (about 15 minutes worth) yesterday and then nothing but light wind and light rain. I'm not complaining understand! I fished up until Saturday evening. Seas were about 4 ft some 7 miles out. Uncomfortable fishing in my 18' Sundance, but did manage to catch 2 small non keeper Groupers and a large Spanish Mackrel (maybe Cero). One of the girls got sick so we came in early. Hope the weather clears in time to go fishing again before the next huricane.

Mallard
Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. My area got hit pretty hard by Charley, I included some pictures below. We were certainly blessed by not receiving any major damage. The long power outages really put a dent in my projects (no power tools, no airbrush, no drying rack) so I have been doing some hand painting. I got power back last night and one of the first things I did was E-tex a small batch of baits I was working on and put them on my drying rack. Waiting for Francis (second hurricane in three weeks) to move thorugh was quite stressful. I passed the time doing what I could with some baits I had in progress. I must say, while this hobby is consuming, it is certainly stress relieving. My son and I even tested a few baits in the pool between squalls. deadlystreamer
Wow Mallard, Glad to hear you are all OK, between the two storms you must have very few shade trees left. What a mess. I hope that Ivan decides to take another route like about 200 East of the coast and blow off somewhere else. I don't think you guys need another one. You said you just got your power on last night from Charlie? You had no power as Frances was booming in on you? Man!! Maybe you guys down there should spend your summers in Mi and your winters down there..Of course that would be no fun because you have all the good fishing down there. Sometimes you can't win for loosen. Glad to see you're alright. Back to bait building now.. and putting everything back together. Take care. cflbasser
Hey Everyone... Thanks a million for all of your thoughts and prayers... I need one of those "I survived Francis" t-shirts... What a week this has been... This is the first chance I've had to get on a computer (at my in-laws house). I ended up with an oak tree in my living room, so needless to say, We've got no power/internet access. The tree was actually two trees that grew up sided by side. One tree fell towards the road, and one fell on the house... My wife and 21 month old daughter were in the living room, and I was in the bedroom when it came down. My neighbors tree fell down across my back yard and took out my fence also... But, everyone is safe and I have insurance o take care of the house... When I get some more time in a few days... I'll post a few pictures... All, I can say, is I'm outta here for Ivan... Got to get packed... Later....
