Basseducer
Mr Curt, I recently completed a survey here about TU and now I keep getting these pop-up ads all the time. Please get them to stop or show me how to stop them. I also get a lot of words in the threads that are links to ads. HELP!!!
RayburnGuy
Have you tried running any anti-spyware programs Basseducer? I've been using a program called Super Anti Spyware. It's a free download and has been working well for me. Don't have a link so just do an online search and you should find it. good luck, Ben
alsworms
Yeah has to be a problem with your computer or device. I see ads, but never pop-ups. Another good one is malwarebytes. You can download it here..... https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ Just make sure you select the free version. Good luck!
RayburnGuy
Nice catch Al. Forgot about Malwarebytes. I have it as well and run both of them. Ben
alsworms
I need to try yours, Ben. I've heard nothing but good about it.
Vodkaman
I use Malwarebytes too. The free version is no different to the paid version. I actually chose to pay for the software because I thought it was so good. Dave
RayburnGuy
Give it a try Al. I think you'll like it. My computer is a little faster after it runs each time. Of course it slows back down over time as all the tracking cookies, and other internet garbage, reloads itself every time you visit a website. Another program I like is Crap Cleaner. It has a free version as well and has several tools included that are really helpful. Ben
alsworms
Yes! C-Cleaner is excellent. Run that dude at least once a week.
Basseducer
I tried the Malwarebytes free trial with negative results. This only started after taking a TU survey about TU. I also tried running scans and clean-ups with Norton and still no relief.
alsworms
Pop-up blocker may do the trick then......... https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/popup-blocker-pro/kiodaajmphnkcajieajajinghpejdjai?hl=en
Basseducer
Thanks Al, I think that might have done it.

Curt - NC
@Basseducer I can assure you that TU uses no pop up ads at all. They were more than likely due to malware on your computer. Thanks to @alsworms, @RayburnGuy& @Vodkaman for their help and suggestions

But it won't clean your computer of whatever is on it that's causing those pop-ups to begin with. Be sure you get that issue sorted out too! Basseducer
Although the pop-up issue was resolved it didn't start until I completed a survey about TU on TU.

It was a pop up ad triggered by adware or malware on your computer. TU does not use pop up ads of any kind.
alsworms
A bit off topic.......and I didn't mention it earlier because it's not really a big deal........but I'm having to sign in twice now with each visit, even though I checked save password. Anyone else having this problem? Once I'm logged in, all is well.
Curt - NC
@alsworms Yes. This started happening last night. I was working with a developer to tweak some security aspects of the site. There may be a setting that he changed that caused this. I will touch base with him to see if he can fix it. I know it's a pain in the butt. Please bear with me!
