blue craw help

Recommended Posts

I don't know how they do it - but if I was gonna try it (hobbist level)... i'd either sprinkle some fine glitter or highlight (blue) into the top half of the mold then just shoot the green...  If you're worried about the blue "moving" when it's shot.... sprinkle the blue glitter/ higlight in and pour a little green over it - then shoot the rest.... that should keep it in place.  Other option is to mix some clear with glitter/highlight - pour it in the mold - then shoot green behind it...

That's how I'd try it - I'm sure the guys here have other/better ways... but that's where I'd start if other opinions aren't offered.

Thanks for your comment, I had already thought about doing that, but when you see the craw in different angles, it seems as if it had a pearl painting or something like that..  I thought there was a special type of paint to do that and to paint some other lures since that color has worked very well here

I've been looking at quite a few pictures of this color & it looks to be a green pumpkin/green pumpkin w/blue hi-lite & blue pearl powder laminate. When you use both pearl blue powder & hi-lite you get the blue outer sheen along with a deeper blue sparkle. Some pictures I've seen have been true laminates, while others have had a swirled look. To get the swirled look, just run the green pumpkin w/blue side a lot cooler than the green pumpkin side when you dual inject. Should give it some swirl..

This the blue craw I used to make.  Gp was an opaque gp.  Trans won't work as the whole thing will look green.  For the blue I used 8 drops bears royal blue, 3 match heads of blue pearl and 3 match heads of blue hilight.  Add just a pinch of .035 black flake.  1 cup.  These were shot as laminates, but works great when pulsed for a swirled look.
