stumpjumper16
Anyone ever use the precut balsa bodies sold at lure parts, Jann's, or skirts unlimited? If so, how would one even begin to cut a level lip slot? I had a few ideas of making a leveling jig, but wanted some input first.
BobP
Yeah, that's the main problem with them. What I do is stretch a big rubber band over the head of the bait, eyeball it until it looks straight, mark it with a pen, the cut the slot with a Dremel thin reinforced cutting disk.
Basseducer
Paul Adams has a video on utube that shows how to make a jig for that. I don't know the name of the video, but search Paul Adams.
stumpjumper16
I thought about cutting a slot in a protractor to place a utility blade. The idea being if there are equal halves with a perpendicular line, then I can eye ball four equal quadrants or parts to the bait. The blade would serve as a marking gauge to mark a level slot. I couldn't find the Paul Adams video to see how he marks a pre cut bait, so this i think I will give it a try.
