Del-Mart Molds

Recommended Posts

Hey Del,

I know we talked before, but I am ready to discuss some custom molds. If you could email me at your convienance please......john_huffman@kidlizard.com or kidlizardbait@yahoo.com

Anyone who would like to comment on thier experiences with dels molds, I would love to hear them. I have seen some of products and they look great. The questions I have are, how much does heat build up in th molds slowing down your cycle time? Also anyone who uses the senko molds, how exactly do those work with pouring pots? Pictures are welcome also.

Thanks alot

John

Hey john they are great and you've seen some of my lures from them. The senko style is the best I have and I only have one more which is the flippin worm mold 6" and my prostaff guys love that worm. I noticed after you pour about 60-100 baits in the mold it does get hot but doesn't affect the curing time that much a little hot to handle but nothing a pot holder can't fix. You need to take the four screws out of the base of your pot and reverse the direction it is pointing. Just flip it around and put the screws back in. Next you will have to mount the pouring pot to a fixed table or something cause it won't stand up on it's own anymore. The only bad thing about the mold is you have to keep an eye on the worms when they start cooling they shrink therefore you must add plastic before it sinks in too far or you will get an air pocket at the head of the bait. I goofed on some but it actually makes a good starting point for your hook and does not affect the baits in the water just doesn't look great. If you have anymore questions shoot me an email I'll explain the best I can.

John on custom molds I have had molds that have gone out fast and then I have had some problem molds take an extremly long time(4+ months)

Some of the custom stuff has been way beyond my expertise in programing and I have had to learn some new ways in programming....

I have several of dels molds. They are A1 as far as craftsmanship and quality. Htey do cost you, but you get what you pay for.

The pots work fine for pouring, But I use a pyrex cup it pours faster. But I do use a pot for pouring them with diffrent color tips. Watermellon and flo yellow tip.

Just time the pour from the pot to get the color length uniform. then top off with the pyrex cup.

His open face molds are good too. I wouldnt have any problem recomending his stuff. Not only that but he also makes things right if somthing does go wrong. Great person to do buisness with.

Im sure that anyone here would say the same thing. He is a good guy with a good business.

Thanks Guys,

I have emailed dell about some custom work, and I will probably be getting some of his standard flippin worm molds. (hope you dont mind Fireball) I hate to offer the same thing as someone else, but my pro-staff is demanding a finesse type straight worm, and those look like the best I can find molds for. I will let you know how it turns out.

If your looking for that 4 1/2" finesse worm, I can tell you I have 2 molds and the taper and the softest plastics both work well together. I got them for a song and dance with other lures from funny farm tackle, This mold really doesnt heat up like the sinko mold. That one will get quite warm to handle.

I have Del's Baby Brush Hog mold and am very pleased with it. Plastic comes out smooth and uniform. If I have a big pour, I'll place the mold in cool water. Not only his molds, but all my molds. (not my plaster ones) Just make sure no water gets in the mold. If the water starts warming up, I'll add a few ice cubes. Later.......kat
