mythos
To the guys that are using KBS clear. Are you guys using Xylene/Xylol, or KBS Thinner? And what is the process to thin the KBS clear if it's stored in a mason jar? TIA!
Nathan
I use xylene with good results..I know of some guys who thin by 20% as soon as they open the can. I add it..seal up jar and give it a light shake to mix..then let sit a while before using..Nathan
mythos
Nathan, do you measure or just eyeball the amount of thinner when adding it? Also, instead of shaking, would it be better to stir?
Nathan
I just eye ball it...this stuff is really forgiving...as for stiring it..that may work fine..I just try to eliminate as much air contact as I can..Nate
SW Lures
Since Nate turned me on to KBS I can't add to that. I will say this, any of the clears you want to do the mixing in away that will keep down the air being mixed in. Any two part compounds, you have to stir. Breathing on the epoxy can release any unwanted air pockets. One part fluids, a shack or a stir and let the air release first. Dale
mythos
Found out that Xylene is now prohibited for sale and use in California. I'm not sure why, but I decided to just order the KBS #1 Thinner instead.

mythos
Lowe's got a replacement call Pro Thinner by Crown. They said it's a replacement for MEK, Toluene, and Xylene. I didn't want to risk using it to thin the KBS, so I decided not to buy it.
