ScottK91
Does anybody have a good gulp minnow smelt recipe they would like to share? Thanks
alsworms
Interesting color. I couldn't find a big enough picture, but judging from what I saw, I'd start with like a minnow silver with gold hi-lite and either a black or very dark brown back. MT204
Been a lurker on this site for some time. Interesting question as I was ice fishing this weekend using a tip up with a smelt for bait. Thinking there must be a smelt mold or something close somewhere and a good recipe for a color? ScottK91
Ok thanks als I'll give that a try. On the gulp minnows the top looks like a brownish gray and the bottom looks like a grayish white. I'll have to do some messin around to see what I can come up with. alsworms
If you can post a pic of what you're trying to copy, that would help. As said, I couldn't really find anything clear enough.

MT204
The ones I use vary in color a bit. But this is pretty typical.

alsworms
First time I saw the pic, I thought it was a black back, but it's definitely a dark brown.

Apdriver
Spike it's Arkansas Shiner might be a good place to start. Could be a little darker but would be an easy fix with a drop of black.
