psilvers
I am making a jig in which I use a 0.040 stainless insert. The insert is straight with a loop on each end. Each loop is closed with a barrel wrap (4 -5 twists). This will be used for saltwater applications, and I am sure that it will stand up to stripers and blues. However, I was wondering whether anyone has any idea of how strong (i.e. lb test) the insert would be? I am wondering whether it would be strong enough for cobia and amberjack. Of course, the insert is inside the lead body, I was just wondering whether anyone had an idea of the strength of such an insert. I would prefer not to have to go with .051 wire because that would require another mold modification. Thanks, Pete
Apdriver
Pete, I use .040 on Arigs with 85 lb. test and heavy hooks. When I hang, I wrap that 85 lb. braid around the cleat on my boat and straighten those heavy hooks. I believe it would handle cobia and AJ's. I do THINK it will handle cobia and AJ, I just wanted to get some other opinions. Pete
