smalljaw
My second pair of gate shears is now pinching off the sprue instead of cutting it which is creating more work as I have more filing to do. So now that I need a new one I was wondering what you guys use, and I don't want to use diagonal cutter, I have a set of Snap-On diagonal cutters and those have the same tendency to pinch the sprue off instead of cutting flush. I appreciate any help, I was looking into the Xuron flush cutter but there are so many models and they are made for plastic model part trees so I don't know which ones to get so any advise would be great. andy1976
Brand wise I really like knipex a lot. Mine are 6 years old and still going strong. These diagonal flush cutters work great for what I do. They also make electronic super nips. I'm going to order those right now.
cadman
Smalljaw, I am going to be in the same boat. I have a pair with blue handles and they are about 7 years old. I know one of these days they will break. I was looking at the Knipex, and I might have to try a pair as a back-up. I have heard some good reports about them, however no first hand experience. andy1976
http://knipex-tools.com/fileadmin/site/knipex-tools/bk/index.php?catalog=KNIPEX_Main_Catalog_US#page_4 I'm going to try these super flush cutters. https://www.riogrande.com/Product/111305 Also the knipex site has some interesting info. In the pic you see oblique cutters which seem interesting. And without bevel. Looks like something without bevel will do a better job. Jig Man
I'd like to see some closeups of how some of them cut. I have a couple of pairs that I bought from Barlows many years ago. The cut the head a bit flat and leave a line I have to file. I'd really like to get away from that.
