HeadHorse jigs

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone has tips on keeping the swivels as paint-free as possible while powder painting the jig heads?

Currently, I've been covering the swivels with tape and it's been working okay but sometime so much paint gets in the swivels that they either break off entirely or do not spin at all.

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I got sick of the same problem . I modified my mold to take an  s hook , some call it a figure eight . Placing the S hook one cavity at a time I closed the mold and smacked it with a rubber impact hammer til it seated . That allowed me to paint the head and tie it or skirt the thing first . Then attach the swivel later. Some will say that this method will put the blade spinning to far back towards the hook . Baloney !

DuPont Non-Stick Dry-Film Lubricant with Teflon Fluoropolymer.

Amazon and Walmart sells it.

Effective from -100F to +500F.

Note: This is something I haven't done but plan to try.  It could work on hook eyes as well.

 Process:

Remove flash from lead.

Note: Apply Dry-Film Teflon outdoors and let dry.

Spray some in a cup and dip or apply to swivel with a cue-tip.  Be careful to not get any on lead as nothing sticks to it .

Either lay flat or hang by eye with paper-clip to dry.

After Teflon Dry-Film has dried you are ready to Powder Coat.

No need to remove Teflon Dry-Film.

Swivels should be free of PC and spin better than ever!
