Coley
You can reuse your epoxy brush over and over and over if you do the following. Get a small plastic bottle that is impervious to Acetone. Drill a small hole in the cap, smaller than the middle diameter of the brush. Pull the brush handle up through the cap until it is very tight. Fill the bottle with Acetone until it is above the bristles of brush. You can now screw the cap on and the brush will stay straight, clean and soft. Clean out the bottom of the bottle about every 10 baits. And refill with fresh Acetone. The pictures tell it all. IslandBass
Great Idea Coley! I faced this problem earlier this morning after I coated my first two lures but I used a metal can, covered it with plastic and poked a hole on top and kept it in place with a rubber band. Your idea is a smaller and nicer way to go. BTW, how do you dispose of the acetone? Thanks! P.S. Thanks for your help in a different post. --IslandBass
Coley
I pour it onto a rag and let it evaporate. Coley
Nathan
Great idea Coley.....also, besure to use a paper towel and squeeze of the excess eppoxy in the bristles before you put it in the acetone...Nathan

cavu
does Acetone work better than laqure thinner?
cullin8s
Anything that will get it off should be fine, i use laquer thinner or even enamel thinner and it always works fine.
Tally
Coley- How long do you leave the brush in acetone and how long does it take the acetone to evaporate where the brush is useable again? thanks Tally
cheesehead
Actone evaporates very fast. I use an old medicine bottle and if I leave the cover off it ill evaporate in about an hour. the evaporation actually cools the acetone to te point that condensation will form on the outside of the bottle. To answer your question. When I clean an epoxy brush I stir it in the acetone for 20 seconds or so shake it off 2 or 3 times and use it right away. RiverMan
Hey Coley, great idea! I have had the best luck by squeezing out much of the epoxy with a paper-towel before placing it in the acetone...otherwise it seems as if the acetone has difficulty removing all the stuff. Thanks again Coley. Jed
