Skimpy
I have nothing but good stuff to say about the ripper. It is an absolutely perfect chatterbait and swimjig trailer. I've been catching a lot of fish with the ripper. It is def a must have mold for your arsenal!!!https://youtu.be/4OLRgN19q1Q Edited June 10, 2017 by Skimpy
FATFLATTIE
Looks like a good bait, but I can get 12 cavities worth of laminate shooting 4" swimmer molds from Enforcer for the same price as 4 of those molds. Just really, really high for a single cavity mold but that's Do-It for ya.

Yeah I wish it was a multiple cavity mold and yes the price is a little steep
Flippinstick Mike
I bought that mold this spring and have been really happy with it. The rings shoot great every time & No incomplete tails. My biggest fish this season was a,6lb 14oz large I caught on that bait.
walleyeking
I like the ripper too. Ya it's a bit expensive but the quality is there. I like the profile and it shoots great. A multi cavity would be nice and sounds like it's in the works.

Eol2014
Hi Skimpy....how close is the ripper to a kietech fat swing impact....thanks
Skimpy
Pretty close. Only 3.5". I wish they made a bigger one also
aulrich
Just got the ES version of the ripper mold that has 3 cavities. it does have the rougher sand cast finish , one thought has struck me has anyone taken metal polish to the inside and tried to improve the surface finish, as I understand it the surface finish makes it about impossible to get clear baits, with the ES version. Eol2014
That guy skimpy has a utube video where he spray paints the mold with hi temp paint. He states makes the baits alot less dull....check it out.... Also how close do u think these baits are to the kietech far impact....other than size of course
aulrich
I found the video, that is a much simpler solution, thanks

Skimpy
I dont have the ES ripper yet. The high temp spray does work. I still use the ES Swimbait mold that I sprayed in the video. In all honesty, im not sure the finish actually matters that much. yes the shiny looks better, but will it catch more fish? aulrich
I am not so much concerned about shiny, but on the do-it forum a guy had posted core shot baits and he had mentioned the the core was not showing through as well due to the surface of the mold. The first thing I thought of with the core shot bait was a clear body (silver and black flake) with a flo pink core /tail and call it rainbow trout. A more subtle version could be a clear with ( blue and red flake) with a pearl gold core shot call it brown trout. But I would agree anything solid color "shine" is irrelevant
Eol2014
idk.....maybe shine would reflect light better and give a lil flash and on a swim-bait that isn't a bad thing....but glitter might off set duller finish.
walleyeking
In the water you can't tell it's dull.
DaBehr
I have both the cnc mold and the Essential mold. Both shoot perfect and the baits are the same. I don't know about a bigger one, but a smaller crappie size is in the works. The Paddle Tails come in big sizes. The 6” is a BIG piece of meat! It was really effective this fall for bass and Northern Pike molded in bluegill colors. I really like the action on those baits. I'm in the process of getting all the sizes to follow the shad cycle from small to mature.

Glitter isnt gonna shine as much thru dull. But it still should catch fish.
Eol2014
Rigging this type bait on a jig head or under-spin has been very effective for me. In this application, I think shine has value. Perhaps if rigged as a trailer shine wouldn't be as important.
FrogAddict
I have the 631 from Basstackle and it's very similar to the Ripper. I was having trouble getting air voids since it's a top inject until Mark Paulson suggested hitting the mold with Pam. Now they shoot quite well. mark poulson
I bought the Ripper 3 cavity mold last week. It pours like a dream, and the baits are already fish catchers.
aulrich
Shot my first few yesterday, it's going to be a killer bait. Too bad I can't make it onto the ice for a few weeks. Now the problem is that I need a couple more molds so I don't have to re-heat plastic so many times.
