bdixon1
I am the principal at a small rural high school in Alabama. Our fishing team is looking for a year around fundraiser to support the team. We are considering offering hand poured baits locally as a way to make some money for the team. Is this a good idea from the money perspective?
bam424
That is a good idea...especially if you have many followers of the sport around your area. Maybe for one day schedule a festival of some sort with a fishing atmosphere (knot tying class, flipping contest, etc) Accepting donations for your team. Idk just ideas.
HavasuAngler
One thing that has seemed to work well for us out west, is a boat dry/wipe down. We do have a lot of vacation and pleasure boaters, so that helps us a bit. However, all you need is spray bottles with vinegar/water, and microfiber towels. We offer to wipe any and all boats and accept a donation to do so. We've made over $500 in one day.
StriperCandy
One of our local high school fishing clubs holds a fishing flea market every year. It's become so popular, they now have expanded to include the cafeteria across the hall. I have the contact info for the teacher who runs it, if you're interested in how something like that is coordinated.
GDog
We have had the kids do raffles for i.e. a nice rod and reel and we have also worked with local vendors and sold ribs or boston butts. However, the best support dollars that we raise come from getting the parents to hit up local businesses to sponsor the team for like $250-$500 bucks each and then we put their logo on the team jerseys for advertising. You give the business with the largest donation the best location (size logo) on the jerseys.
