Hillbilly voodoo
Striper what species do you target on the fly? knowing this I may be able to give you some more uses for duck feathers personally I use them in many different ways from insect to baitfish patterns
StriperCandy
I usually build salt water flies and streamers. The mayfly build is a trade with jonister, and a test of my skills. My flies are usually for blue fish, stripers, and sometimes fluke. Edited December 10, 2017 by StriperCandy

So 3-8inch baitfish/predator flies I have not targeted these species but predator species are my fav to target so might fav a pattern or two that you would like. Duck feathers for this style of tying I use for fins and highlight points i will try to do some tying over the next few days and post them with recipes i guess knowing what species of duck you have feathers from could be useful lol
NM Hevi
I have plenty of Mallard Drake feathers. Wanting to tie hooks for topwater baits, both poppers and walking style presentations. Which feathers have y’all used from ducks for this method? Thanks John
StriperCandy
Jonnister sent me what I'm guessing are mallard secondary flight feathers and coverlets, and body feathers that are mostly black/white/grey barred. https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipOenu-8SD6wOR3wsuZs17KJ4iGf6xLpjT_NOF15

captain belly
Love those Goose Biots you get from the primary feathers! Best part of a goose.
FishCandy
Jonnister, I didn't forget about you sir. I am going to get a few hooks tomorrow and try this thing. Stay tuned!
Chuck Young
I keep my feathers on the wing. Much tying (such as wings) requires matching left and right wing feathers. Love that Wally wing. Got to give that a try. With my luck, I won't get the feather to split.
FishCandy
Splitting the feather was the easy part! I'm not used to such small hooks. It's a lot harder to tie them than I thought.
Chuck Young
I tied a set of Adams for a business mentor of mine. I went from a size 8 down to a size 28. He was pretty impressed that I was able to put wings on the smallest ones. Not sure if I could do it now.
