tarponchaser305
Wondering if it is necessary to use a digital scale for mixing silicone. I am planning on using Alumilite HS2
ItsJustB
I just started playing around with this stuff recently. I know the 1lb kit comes with measuring cups and instructions for measuring by volume. I made 2 molds, one measuring by volume with the provided cups and one by weight with a scale. Both turned out fine.
Travis
Just buy a scale. It makes little sense for guys to get into this sort of work and not get the required "tools" to do the job. You could contact them and ask about the density and determine the volume needed or maybe someone here will take the time to determine the density. I always have used the scale method and weighed directly into the mixing cup with both components.
Anglinarcher
I know Alumilite well, and have used both the volume and weight. Both work great, 10:1 ratio. When I am doing small amounts, like for mold alterations or repairs, I use a syringe to measure each side. When I do a full mold I use my digital scale. Harbor Freight makes some inexpensive ones, large and small. PS, exact rations are not required, just get it close and mix well.
