Van1707
Hi Guys This might be stupid question to some, but what size trebles would you use on a 7inch Glide Bait and a 10inch Glide Bait? Im still new to making swimbaits so I thought I would ask for some advise.
DingerBaits
I always look at other baits when choosing hooks first. What looks good doesnt always mean it is functional. Hooks will change the weight and the action. It is best to test a few different sizes. I would start around the 3/0 and go up or down depending on the look, action, and weight.
Anglinarcher
DingerBaits is dead on. The weight can make a huge difference to action. Hook size can either impede or improve action. As a rule of thumb, I would start with a 4/0 for the 10" and a 3/0 for the 7", but remember that the type and make of hook makes a huge difference. mark poulson
I like a smaller hook, like a 1 or 1/0, but in a short shank X2. The stronger hook is heavier, so the action isn't affected, and the bigger fish can bend out a X1 treble. I use Mustad KVD short shank trebles: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_KVD_1x_Strong_2x_Short_Triple_Grip_Treble_Hook/descpage-MKVDEST.html
