Trickworm8
I would like to know what y’all are using for an exhaust system in your bait making shops. I mostly make plastic and lead heads. Thanks in advance. Just want to toss it around and see what’s the most economical and safe to. Cadillac
I'm interested in this as well! I use box fans in the Windows but I know it's not enough.
jonister
I have one of those big industrial fans, like the ones in a bathroom but much bigger. Its housed in a plywood contraption similar to a kitchen oven hood. It is above my main work area where I air brush/pour lead, fed outside with aluminum duct. Its very similar to setting up a bathroom fan.
goclones
I built a three-sided box plus a top out of thin plywood that sits on top of a work bench. Installed a bathroom exhaust fan in the top. I ran the vent hose to a piece of wood that is sized so I can just open a window and place the wood in the opening. It just vents outside then. I'm not sure how thoroughly it works. My microwave for plastic melting fits inside and I can also put my lead pot inside.
DerekWr
And I'm interested in this question.
Chris Catignani
I have an iPower 12 inch shutter exhaust. 940 CFM. I installed it over the work bench...it moves the air pretty good so there was no need for a hood.
goclones
When you say you installed it over the work bench, do you mean it's just in a window in front of the work bench? I ask because it looks like it's a window/wall mount type fan.

This actually has another purpose...which is to air out the garage when the boat is wet.
Painter1
I watched Craigslist and picked up a used commercial kitchen range hood, mounted it & vented it through the wall, with a louver against siding. 3 lights on it and it does a great job. Apdriver
That’s a really nice find and especially if you picked it up reasonable. Those things exhaust a lot of air and should keep you safe for all your tacklecrafting. Congrats on the upgrade!
ravenlures
Since I paint in my basement, I use a box fan with filter and a dryer hose out the sill board. It works for me, I use just about all water base paint and any strong smell comes from final coatings. Wayne
