crappielooker
the front part would be the props from buzzbaits and the main body will look like the body on the Sammy(torpedo shape)..i have been thinking about making this bait for awhile now, and i would like some comments on it..is it a good idea to try out..the fish i will be targeting is smallmouth bass in the river..throughout my fishing last season i find that they bite hard on topwater.. the more the bait agitate the water the harder the strike.. thanks in advance for the inputs.. Nathan
Crappielooker,I played around with something like that a couple years ago.The fish would blast the bait, and would knock it a foot or two out of the water, but the hook-up ratio was terrible. It was fun to fish, but I couldn't land many.Let me know how you make out..Nathan
Babe
Crappielooker, on topwaters I've found that putting shrink tube on the back hook, so that stays straight out rather than hanging down has increased hookups for muskie, might work for bass. Good luck.
crappielooker
nathan..if u dont mind me asking..how did u joined the 2 parts together..with swivel or straight wire?? babe..thanks for the idea..im thinkin about epoxy the treble hook to the of the lure and leave the one in front dangling under the bait as normal.. as far as the hook up ratio goes..it would just be neat to see somethin come out to smack it..that alone makes it all worthwhile to me...at least for the start.. PS..just surfed around the site and found that funny farm got one made already..may have to send him my checks and just get it over with.. thanks all for the replies.. Nathan
Crappielooker,no problem.I drilled a hole the length of the lure, and ran the wire through.I tried both a fixed hook..(non-swinging) and a loose hook in the back.Neither improved the hooking. They are a blast to fish, you just don't land many..Nathan
muskysucker
crappielooker, you should make it a three hooker. Put two the hooks on the sides and one out the back. as for the buzz blad, I would make a wier and use a spit ring it to the body. If you make this send a picture so we can see it. I was going to make some thing like this for musky but my shop is pack and waiting to be moved to a new house .
