walleye warrior
I am spraying some plastic minnows with lureworks SB solvent based paint. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so what did you use to clean your airbrush? I tried mineral spirits and it just gummed up. I did not see any info on the website and they are closed for the day. Good news is I bought a cheap harbor freight airbrush just in case I had any problems

Frank
Acetone will work but lacquer thinner will give you more time to really wipe it down well. Should wear gloves with either one you use as it is hard on the hands.

McLuvin175
So long as the paint has not dried and is still wet something like Acetone should work fine. If it has dried on your airbrush it may be necessary to step to something like Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) to lift it. They sell SB Coat Thinner which is ideal for clean out and clean up. Again its always best to use the thinner system that the paint is made from but if you have some other stuff in your inventory that works then go with it.

Landry
Lacquer thinner works just fine for me. I use this stuff a lot. I think MEK is very toxic. The paint is toxic too - I wear a fresh air supply mask
Bogbaits
yes its toxic,so is your lacquer thinner, the paint is made with mek,I use it on thousands of lures,be safe,be carefull, that being said as long as you protect your self its all good 1
Frank
Lacquer thinner has Mel as one of the ingredients so both will be hazardous. Both should be used with caution. 1
