JLS
I hate building some of my skirts this time of year. Between the dry air and the static created by separating the material, seems like some of my skirt material has a mind of its own. I build a couple of skirts that have just a few strands of a couple of colors and several half tabs, those seem to give me the most trouble. I usually try to plan ahead and have the material for those skirts layed out a day before I need them but don't always have the space for that. I recently discovered that covering the material with a damp paper towel removes the static and makes it a lot easier to build skirts. I can usually build several skirts before the static comes back and then I just put the towel back for a couple more minutes.

canuck
In winter here in ontario the inside air relative humidity drops off causing static, If you don't add moisture to your heated furnace air. Have you tried a portable humidifier in your work area? May eliminate the hassle of wetting materials before tie in. Relative humidity should be between 35% and 55% depending on outdoor temp. Condensate on the inside window glass is a good indicator if you are adding too much moisture for the outdoor low temps. Adjust accordingly. Just a thought.
