Tedhook
Any suggestions on how to reinforce ribbontail worms to make them "tougher" yet still remain flexible.
mark poulson
I don't pour ribbon tailed worms, but I pour lots of 3 " grubs and boot tailed swimbaits, and, for me, I just use a stiffer plastic. I use Baitjunky's medium, and add a tsp of hardener to a cup of plastic. I add the hardener before I cook the plastic, so it warms and melts completely at the same time as the rest of the plastic, and will be mixed in well when I stir in my color and flake. To me, it makes the plastic more like the salt water plastic I've used in the past. I use the grubs as spinnerbait trailers, and they swim just fine. For the boot tails, the stiffer plastic works just fine, and gives a tighter wiggle, because the thin tail leading to the boot isn't as flexible. But the boot tail swims, anyway, because it has so much water resistance. I think the ribbon tail is going to swim, as well, because of the water resistance. Give a small batch a try, and see if it works for you.
