Packaging Finesse Worms

Recommended Posts

I plan to package up some finesse worms and would welcome information for getting 6” label cards for the top of the bags. I need about 200 cards and will be placing these in a couple bait shops.  Also curious if you have UPC code printed on the card or use a sticker.

some of the worms are bent due to some poor storage technique on my part.  I’ve read that dipping them in hot water is effective to cure this, but have never done it.  Some of the worms have also exuded some oils from the plasitol.  Will the “hot bath” remove that ?

Thanks in advance

Bent worms, sometimes the hot water will work.  Boiling water is what I have used, but it does not always work.

Yes, the hot water will remove the oils.  I just leave the oils myself, but I don't sell them.

It would be more cost efficient to use stickers for your UPC codes. If you print them on the header, you will need to print a lot of headers for each code. Just attach the sticker as you need them.  You can get the headers from any print shop but it might be expensive if you only need 200. Set up fees, etc. You might try designing and printing them yourself.

If you have the art work done or can get it done you can use GotPrint.com. Get the 6x4” post cards and fold them. You will end up with 2x6” headers on the top of the bag. No set up fee if you have the art work and can submit online. I can get some in less than a week.

Can't really help with the packaging other than to suggest using packaging in the future that will give you plenty of wiggle room and not to push all the air out of the bag.   That little bit of air will help to keep the baits loose in the pack and not sticking together and getting bent.

As far as your bent baits, like others have said you can try the hot water.  I don't use boiling water but water that has nearly reached the boiling point.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't you just have to try your luck and see.

How long do you leave them in the water?

Remember the water boils at 212 degrees F, and the plastic is not soft until near 300 degrees, so all you are able to do is loosen the plastic links a little.  When I have had success, it was after leaving the worms in for about 5 minutes.  More caused other problems.

I would test a few and see if it works,  but it is not a sure fix for sure.
