Paul
Hi Guys I am going to use some of the spinnerbaits I got in the last swap this weekend when bass fishing opens here in Canada....my question for you is....which spinner blades work best - do willow leaf blades work better in certain situations or something like that? I really have not fished with them that much - so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
OUTDOORSMAN
a starting point is willow leaf blades in clear water and colorado blades in murky or muddy water. If you want to know more about spinner bait fishing, Bass Pro has a really good video tape with Kevin Vandam in it.
Gr8flyz
I'll second Outdoorsman's post, also silver blades in clear water, gold blades in murky water as a starting point, but some fish seem to have a preference for one or the other. I use 3 basic colors, white, black, and chartreuse, and combinations of these. I'll use all three in clear water, more chartreuse or black in off color water, and more black in really murky water. Also the clearer the water, the smaller the blades I'll use, and bigger blades the murkier the water, especially with Colorado blades, which push more water than Willows. I use the same approach with skirts as far as color, and heavier skirts in murky water, because they push more water. Keep in mind that nothing here is cast in stone, experiment with what you have, and see what works best on a particular day.
Celticav
Hmm... I never put that much thought into it, I use the biggest blade I can get away with without over torqueing the bait. Colorados produce the most thump and willows the least. I use silver blades for clearer water and gold or painted for the rest, JIM
