ravenlures
I know just search but am on my way to work so hope some one will give their thoughts. For shallow running 6" lure.
azsouth
I think it is all about preference, meaning how you want the lure to move. IMO
Anglinarcher
I agree with Azouth. Round is traditional and works well, but in the old days, Herter's use to sell the Finland Minnow with a square bill lip and it worked well.
woodieb8
we build the trapezoid or square lip for shallow trollin cranks, more erratic wobble for muskies in peak summer
RayburnGuy
Where, and how, your going to fish the lure as well as what you want it to do would be my biggest consideration for the shape of the lip. If the bait was going to be fished around shallow cover such as brush, stumps or rock I would go with a square bill because they deflect off of cover better than rounded lips andthis deflection causes a sudden change of direction which can cause a reaction strike. ravenlures
It will be going on a musky bait in shallow water. I tested one yesterday and just what I want. Thanks to all for the help. Wayne

Chuck Young
I also think it matters whether your lure is designed to wobble side to side or to roll. I think that I have always seen rolling lures (Skinny minnows, like Rapalas) with round bills.
ravenlures
After I tested the lure I am going with the square which gives me a good wobble, and the desired depth I am after no more than 10' Wayne
