Apdriver
I have a quick question about tip top adhesive. I ordered some new tip tops from Mudhole that one of their techs recommended. Asked the guy if Devcon 2 ton would be ok to put them on. He said guys usually use that tip top hot glue because if you needed to get that tip top off that had been epoxied you would have to cut the rod. I’m hesitant to use the tip top glue as I have had lots of failures with it. It just doesn’t hold well. I thought if you heated the 2 ton it would let loose like the glue. What’s you frequent rod builders experience and opinions on this?
basscatlildave
I've only used the tip-top adhesive but I'm sure that Devcon would turn loose with heat. My only worry would be how hot you have to get the Devcon to release.
Washougal
Devcon 2 epoxy, blank's graphite fibers held in epoxy, do the math.
Braided Line
Use the correct stuff made for gluing tips. Does it`s job and can be heat melted for an easy off as well. Not to much heat through. J s/n.
TerryF2858
if you are worried about it coming loose from the hot days, or in a hot car, you might look at fletching adhesive for arrows, some of the guys say it works better, but i have not tried it
Musky Glenn
Devcon works great and can easily be removed with heat.

You can remove the old tip with a cigarette lighter, and then do your test. Just be sure you get all the old glue off, because any left over glue under the epoxy will give you a false reading. BobP
I use Devcon 5 minute epoxy. Put it on, it will never come off unless you want it to. To remove a broken top, heat It with a lighter while pulling on it with needle nose pliers. It will come off before causing damage to the blank. 1
