Tally
I am looking for something to use as a scent pad, does anyone use something they would like to share? Thanks Tally
Mr B
When I need a scent holder on a jig I wrap a section of "Furry Foam' on the hook shank. This is a product that is mostly used by fly tyers. It has a soft foam center and a short furry outside layer on both sides. It comes in many colors, black, brown, moss green, tan, red and others. It is also a good way to add a contrasting color to your bait ie Red/Black, Black/Blue, Brown/Chart. I believe janns still carries it in the Fly section. If you have a hard time finding it let me know, I have a ton of brown. You can also make your own. The material is made from those Insulated blankets, foam center/furry outer layer. Cut a strip the size of your pinkie. Wrap your thread about 1/2" below the collar. Now wrap the thread back up to the collar. Take the strip and wrap it around the shank of your hook up to the collar. Make 3-4 wraps to secure the the other end of the strip. This is the process I use because I tie my skirts on. Now just continue tying on your skirt. I hope this made sence. Mr B
