bassdude41
Painting some wood baits I’ve made. I heat set every coat and apply light coats of paint. When I was done the paint was kind of sticky. Clear coat ruined it. What am I doing wrong?
BobP
What brands of paint and clearcoat were you using? Did you thin the paint? With what? Was the paint acrylic latex? Edited October 21, 2018 by BobP
Chuck Young
Heat setting does not work on all mediums .It works well on most (if not all) acrylic paints. It will not work on laquer or oils. Please specify what paint you are using.
Musky Glenn
My first guess is the shelf life of the paint has run out. Meaning it has some age to it. Try the paint on some sample and see if it dries without any heat, which it should, even though it may not work for a lure. That will eliminate the heat issue or tell you if it is age.
