Ferree
What do you guys use to clean your molds when they start getting an oily build up?
Cole's Customs
I use rubbing alcohol with a q-tip.
Frank
Go to an auto body paint supplier and get wax and grease remover. It works great on the molds and your work bench too. As long as it is metal. Just wipe it on and use clean towel to dry. You will love it.
Walking Dead
May not be right for many but I use WD 40 to clean mold and work top. Just wipe it dry. No problems.
curt k
wd40 makes a de-greaser soap that works extremely well for cleaning aluminum molds . I dilute that soap 1:1 in my parts washer vs using varsol . You can use it in a spray bottle , just give the molds a spray , then a quick rub with a sponge , a rinse and they are good to go . Bronzeback Cowboy
I just use a paper towel as I go, wiping excess oil each go round. I always clean my molds prior to their use and when I'm finished I hit them with a silicon spray for storage. I find that when I get them back out the silicon spray has pooled and brings residual colors out from the tiny crevasses in the aluminum molds.
