I'll fill a bowl with warm water, mix salt in and keep doing that until it won't dissolve anymore. Then just put your item in the salt water. You can weigh it down with something if you want. If the water starts evaporating, just do the procedure again. you can put it off to the side and leave it there. Periodically you can check on it to see your results.
