OUTDOORSMAN
I'm thinking about trying my hand at making in-line spinner baits. What tools would I need to get started? Do I need to learn how to tie the treble hooks (like on rooster tails) or is it cheaper to buy them like that? Is there some place that I can read about making them? Big Splash
Outdoorsman, check at www.LureMaking.com for tutorials. Inline spinners can be twisted up with a couple of good needle-nosed pliers. It helps to have a set of round nosed forming pliers, and an ordinary plier with good griping teeth, to grab the wire end and twist it around the shaft. You can buy the feather-tails, or tie them quite easily. Check the archives here at TU for info on tying. You can see some of my smaller sized 'tails in the gallery, in the fly tying section. Send me a PM if you would like some tied up to your specs.
