swim jig molds

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this board and to lure making. I want to start making my own jig heads. Does anyone know where I can get a mold that has 1/8 and/or 3/16 oz. swim-jig (bullet) type head? The closest one I can find is the snootie jig by Do-it. Also, what is your opinion of the Lee production pot 4 (10 lb.)? If anyone has any used hardware for sale let me know, I want to keep my investment to a minimum since this is just for myself.

3/16 will most likely only weight a 1/8oz depending on the lead and hook you use.

1/4 will weight less than a it should , you can make this lighter buy the

Lead mixture you pour it with.

A larger hook is not problem at all, most can go a size larger with out any change, and even larger with a little work that will not effect the cavity.

New for 2004 banana jig -vmc hooks

It has 1/8 oz.

But you will need to add the weed gaurd to the mold.

Most likely can be done.

But I will need to see the mold in person to tell.

Making a cavity smaller is next to impossable.

Hilts were nice for the money........

I don't think I have paid more than $5 for one.

They are not for volume work.

They don't have much backing materail and tend to warp out while in use.

I deal with this buy pouring 3 of each mold to keep them cool.

At todays prices I would not buy a new one.

They do have the copying mold and it would work to make them for a while.

Madbass you are here in wisconsin correct?

Renkie bros, here in milwaukee has the entire do-it line at times.

You can come see them before buying.

But you will need to call first to see if they have it on hand.

Standard molds in stock are like $28.95.

Newer ones are $38.95.

Just picked one up last week.

They also have most jigs already poured on hand so you can see exactly what it looks like before you buy it.
