GB GONE
Got in some highlight powder (green) from LC this weekend and now I need some advice...Add before or after heating and does a little go a long way or not so much... Any advice/tips appreciated!!! Jim
BASS8BAITS
I add it before I heat the plastic. For 2 ounces of plastic I use a small amount of hi-lite, about the size of the end of a Q-tip.
woodsac
about the size of the end of a Q-tip Good comparison I use different amounts for different baits. Each color also uses a different amount. Some just show up better then others. Start with clear plastic, and add your hi lite. Start off with a tiny bit. Depending on the effect you're looking for, you might not even be able to see it in the cup. But when you pour the bait it will show up. Remember, you can add more if you don't like it, but you can't take it out once it's there
Mojo
I got some cool SS measuring spoons from walmart that work well for small amounts. They are marked a pinch, a smidgen, and a dash. The largest is about an eighth of a teaspoon and they get smaller. So I put in a pinch (smallest) of hilite to 4 oz. cold plastic for Z's smoky blue shad. You'll find that you use different amounts for different color combos and effects. It seems to mix easier in the plastic when it's cold. nova
If you don't mix it in the unheated plastic you will wind up with lumps of highlite. I use a lot of highlites and I usually put 1/8 teaspoon in 4 oz. to get the effect I'm loking for. Check out the sticky and you will find highlite recipies. GB GONE
Thanks guys....I'll try it out tonight!!! Jim
BigZ
I always add it before I pour. You need to mix while you are pouring or you will end up with leftover highlight at the bottom of the cup and inconsistent mix in your baits, ie... the baits you pour last out of the batch will have more highlight. BassnG3
Make sure you mix it real well when you initially add it (prior to heating) then each time thereafter. BassnG3
BuMMeRBaits
Add it before the heating, and make sure to use small amounts, the first time I tried it I though I put in just a little, boy was I wrong.
BASS8BAITS
Mojo, I found those spoons you referred to in your post. These are exactly what i needed. Thanks
Mojo
Not a problem Bass8, glad they'll work for you. I've modified all my recipes to use them. It's faster and easier to pour 2 or 4 oz batches when trying out new recipes, and the smaller measuring spoons are great for small batches. I use them for glitter also. By the way, I won your auction on the pimpleback purple/blue hilite worms on ebay. Looking forward to getting them and trying them out!!
