muskietom51
I turned a few lures on the lathe without cuting slots for the lips, any secrets on placement or is it just a hit or miss deal.
IslandBass
Muskietom51, Lip placement will ba a hit and miss deal unless you get an idea of some of the basic principles of the lips, such as size, shape, angle placed into the lure, placement of the line tie, etc. Lincoya, a member of TU, wrote an exceptional piece called, "The Science Behind Making Your Own Crankbait Lips." The article covers the fundamentals you need to consider/factor when designing and placing the lips onto the bait. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the thread or source of his priceless piece so the best I can do is steer you into that direction. Perhaps someone else here can find that post and link it or better yet a PM to Lincoya. Good luck!! --IslandBass
