madbass
What are advantages and disadvantages of each?
woodsac
Advantages of the microwave are time and simplicity. It only takes half the time to melt your plastic and is easy clean up. Very little risk of burning plastic. The burners for whatever reason seem to smoke a lot more. 1 drop from your cup on the burner creates lots of smoke. GB GONE
Madbass: I decided to use both after further research. I initially heat my plastic up in the micro as it is fast (2 minutes) then I transfer the plastic to my aluminum cups that I set on a pan that is on the burners. That way you aren't heating your plastic repeatedly, just stirring between pours. Originally I just use the micro and it is just more efficient if you are pouring a good bit of baits. I've also found that my colors, glitter content and salt content (if added) are more consistent in my finished baits. What works for me though, may not work as well for you..After you pour some you'll get a groove of your own... Jim
alsworms
I'm with Jim. That method seems to work best for me too.
basskat
I use the micro/burner method muself. When pouring baits that I only have one mold for it's much faster than just the microwave. Of course it help to have a vent-hood in your shop. I changed the fan out to a higher volume, makes it safer when I pour my lead baits also.
