rush07
I am having an issue with my Senko works having too much "memory'. If they are bent for any length of time, they will old this shape. I am using MF Super Soft plastic, 1:4 salt ratio, and color/glitter. What can I do to make them more pliable?
Bass-Boys
are you letting them cure at 1st long enough before bagging ?
rush07
Probably not. How long do they need to cure? I have only been pouring soft baits for about 2 weeks and just assumed they were cured when they cooled to room temp.
Anglinarcher
In theory they are, but they often feel that cool when the core is not. Some cool overnight, but I often toss them into an ice bath. Either way, try letting them cool longer.
mark poulson
I lay then out on an old metal baking pan that has had it's teflon coating worn almost completely off. That was the only reason I could sneak it out of the kitchen. The thin metal draws the heat away quickly. I always worry that an ice bath will leech out some of the salt in my senkos. rush07
Thanks for replies. I let them cool overnight and see what happens.
Apdriver
How long do they need to cure? 48 hrs. before you bag them if you don’t want bent baits. If there’s time, longer is better. Another thing that may be helpful is you can lay them out in those cheap small ziploc containers after you shoot and take them along on a fishing trip and bag them later. Stacking is OK unless it’s a very large bait with a lot of volume like a 7 inch swimbait or something. Then even stacking can misform the plastic. You will lose some of the salt if you boil them .. but yes it works ,
rush07
All- Great info. I appreciate all the tips. I will be pouring again tomorrow and will make sure I give them enough time to cure. I will also try to boil the baits that are bent.
rush07
Just to close the loop, I poured some new Senkos on Thursday and let them sit until Saturday morning. Problem solved. No issue at all with them losing their shape. I appreciate the help and guidance.
