Big Epp
Can used soft plastic baits be melted down and remolded? If so, how would one go about this? I haven't done anything with plastics other than fish them, and I hate to waste material. Thanks all!

I've found that adding some new, virgin plastisol with some heat stabilizer helps me to be able to reuse old plastics.
Bass-Boys
stay away from melting certain brands/types.. like Z-Man with elaztech and a few others .
Jig Man
Don’t do it in the house. Get a hot plate or cheap microwave. Have dedicated pans or Pyrex cups. Mixing colors winds up being brown much of the time.
Big Epp
Thanks all! I don't have any molds, but am thinking of doing thin sheets on baking sheets, and then cutting them up for panfish jigs.

Berkley and Zoom products are also a no-no. Found that out the hard way a long time ago.
dv616
I get that Z-man and Berkley don't work, it makes sense. I wonder what is special about Zoom? I thought they were pretty much normal plastic.

It tends to attract moisture and of course turns to steam when heated thus causing massive bubbles. Thats my WAG.

Bassmaster Rick
Great info here Guys. Yes, I'm a newbie. I've only bass fished for 50 years but my wife got tired of seeing all my old baits being thrown into the dirt easement as a form of "dust control". I told I could try recycle them and here I am at 64 years old making bait. I got a couple of Do It Senko molds for Rob Zeiner and I waiting on some molds from BTS Molds. Thanks for letting me in and go easy on me for a while.
Big Epp
Right on @Bassmaster Rick! We've got 3 (soon to be 4) kids and I work in a school...so whenever I have to throw out a worn out plastic I see $ going into the trash. I've actually not really fished a senko much, but they are a bit hit at the pond I fish locally.
