J Hinds
I know there are many experts on this board; I thought that you may be willling to help a novice out. I guess I need step by step instructions on assembling jigs. I already have the materials, I just need info on putting the jigs together. I like jigs tied with wire, as opposed to the collars; I figured that since I am making the jigs for myself I might as well make them how I like them. Any info on how to tie with wire would be very much appreciated. Efficency is really the least of my concerns, I am just interested in a quality finished product. Thanks for any advice that you all are willing to give, I appreciate it.
woodsac
Hey John, not much more info then I already gave you, but here's the wire that livingrubber sales for tying jigs: http://livingrubber.com/prSubdetail.asp?psid=20 And here's a pic of the safetywire pliers I mentioned. If you've never used em they're pretty handy. You simply lock them on the wire, pull up on the end, and it spins the wire tight for you. Markell
I like the safety wire pliers. How long are they?
woodsac
I know they come in a couple different sizes. For the wire size you guys would be using, I would get them in 6". Lots of different places carry them. I'm sure if you just google them you'll come up a few different suppliers. They are used a lot in the military for both vehicles and aircraft. woodsac
I did a quick search. Looks like they are also used for high performance cars. I found them from multiple suppliers in 6", 9", 10". Prices ranged from about $20-$90.
LedHed
Got some from Harbor Freight ? think the (6" model) was less than $10. Use them to make wire leaders for Sierra and Wahoo. Had to put heat shrink on the tips so it wouldn't gouge the wire leader (weakens the wire leader).
