Mbirdsley
How does every body track or records what jigs they make or maybe you don’t. Just trying to make a way to remember jig patterns I have made. I’ve made more jigs than I could ever possibly use. Some patterns/colors work well while others that I have made not so well. For example black/blue and anything summer craw has worked really well this year . I’ve also had other jigs/ chatter baits that have worked at times but, not others. I’m just worried about focusing on what’s currently working but, forgetting about some thing that work 2-3 months or 3 years ago. If you take notes do you always note every jig you make, just the successful ones or even experimenting certain colors or jigs.
toadfrog
The only way I could ever track the success of a pattern I built was through sales when I was in business. I have a list someplace of those lures. But if you make complicated patterns make notes like a bill of material and a picture. Then when you get old as me it will be handy .
HudsonHammerBaits
I keep a list of recipes with name of jig and the skirt tabs used. Also write full tab, quarter tab etc.....in order tab goes on jig. I keep mine in a journal.
Mbirdsley
Those are both good ideas. Almost wonder if an index card would be a good idea. With a name, recipe, and maybe a picture i don’t sell mine but, if I ever did it would be nice to have easy access to the info Edited November 15, 2020 by Mbirdsley
mark poulson
I only tie for myself, so I usually use the same skirt parts that work for me, but, when I want to save a combination, I use my cellphone camera to record my skirt parts, and then save them on my computer.
