Lochie
im in Australia and I’ve been using araldite to hold the through wire in place, and was wondering what else I could use that’s a bit cheaper and still does the job. Cheers
exx1976
I don't do through wire, but I've seen builders use CA and baking soda to fill the voids around a through-wire and secure it in place.
Big Epp
If you do the CA glue and baking soda (which I think works great), make sure you get THIN CA glue. Medium or thick just gums up on top, but the thin soaks in much better. You could also use 5 minute epoxy, here in the states I can get some pretty cheap. Would love to come fish in Australia some day!

BobP
I use relatively cheap quick cure epoxy (5 minute). It works fast, is strong. Just about any glue will get the job done.
eastman03
Yup, I will use 5 minute epoxy, then fill in any imperfections or lead holes with superglue/baking soda, or car body filler (bondo). If you have a large deep slot and don't want to use tons of epoxy, I will epoxy in the wire (enough to cover the wire), then with some strips of wood, I will mix more epoxy and fill the slot with epoxy and the strips of wood making sure they are completely covered on all sides with the epoxy. Here is a pic of what I mean: Welcome here!

I tried to smear it in but my fingers stuck together like you wouldn’t believe.
