madbass
Pouring 5" stik bait in Dels 2 piece mold.#1-I'm still getting air in the worm near the top. How do I avoid that? I tried tipping the mold on an angle while pouring very slow, but still got air. #2-I mixed a batch with no salt or colorant, added a pinch of red, green and black glitter, the worm came out slightly yellowish, is that from the glitter? #3- Some of the green glitter turned blue. Should I be adding the glitter after the plastic is heated to pouring temp? Thanks for any help.
BassnG3
Try to pour slow steady right down the middle of the hole with no angle on the mold and pour until the overflow on the cavity is completely full. Discoloration could be a result of too much heat or a reaction from the glitter. Keep practicing and trying different methods. GB GONE
Try heating your mold or plan on re-melting the first pour of the stick baits. In my experience, if the mold isn't warm, the first pour is not easy to complete. I usually warm my mold in the oven while I'm getting ready to pour. Just be careful as the darn thing gets hot, especially after a few pours. The discoloration of your plastic is from overheating. Try heating in shorter blasts (if your microwaving it) or just turning down your burner a bit. I do tend to add my glitter after I heat up but it will still curl etc. if it is going to. Your glitter may just look another color depending on what the plastic color is or it may be changing. BassnG3 is right..it may be overheating that is causing a color change in the glitter. In my opinion, 2 part molds are a bit more challenging but you will be able to whip through one parts after you master a 2 part mold pour.
