Seele
Does anyone have a 3d model of a sculpin or something similar. Best would be a parametric stp file. I only can find stl and obj which cost a lot of money.

Seele
something like this: https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/3D-Models/sculpin
cadman
I saw in a previous thread you posted, that you use Solidworks. I use it as well and it isn't that difficult to draw up the sculpin is Solidworks. Unless you don't have the time. I do not have any models however. On that rat, you can probably contact the guy on Thingiverse and see if he has a model or an .STP file. And to be honest this program is crap. Of course it is possible to redesign it, but honestly I am not the specialist in designing animals with CAD. I a project engineer who concentrates on planning facilities I can do it, but I thought maybe some others guy are also experimenting with 3D, therefore I asked. Unfortunately the guy didn't post the STP, I already asked him. But I think he cannot convert it, the process is very difficult.
Vodkaman
The process to convert to STP, STL IGS or any other conversion format is basically a 'save as' function involving 5 or 6 clicks. Either his CAD program has the feature (most likely) or it does not. Either the process takes seconds or is impossible. Simple lure body shapes take only a few hours to create. But, a body with gill forms, caudal fin, dorsal fin, pectoral fins, eye sockets or domes, mouth shape, and anything else, don't even ask for scales, can take upwards of 50 hours CAD work. Half of that is figuring out how to do it. Once you figure it out, and do the work fairly regularly, you could get the time down to 20 hours. If I put that kind of effort into a model, I am not going to give it away for free. When asked, I could take one of two directions with my response: 1 - "You're joking, right!" 2 - "Sorry, my CAD system can't do it, or is very difficult." Obviously a nice guy (like me) and gave you option No2 Dave 1
cadman
I have to agree 100% with Vodkaman. The initial design to make a 3d model in any cad package is very time consuming. Once modeled, the changes, revisions and modifications if not too drastic are fairly easy and don't take up a lot of time. I guess depends on who you are, but if I had a model done and it was very complex, I probably would not give anyone the files either. I have no problem helping someone, but looking at those two pics you sent, it would take some time to model. Sorry I can't help you.
mark poulson
It might help if you offer to pay them for the design.
