Jigsisme
Saw some molds on ebay and most of them looked nice. Was wondering if anyone knew what the mold description means...it says "ceramic"? Is this P.O.P. Enlighten me please.
BassnG3
The molds in question on ebay are made of plaster of paris. 'Tis the season Scott
GB GONE
I have some of them. They are easily worth the money to me. Baits come out almost as good as aluminum and baits actually cool faster!!! Jim
Mojo
Jim, what did you coat yours with?
GB GONE
I asked for mine to be sent un-coated on a tip from Chris. I use Devcon 2 ton epoxy and a little acetone to thin it. Brush it on and you are good to go in a few hours. I tried to use spray on heat resistant paint but that left my bait a little sticky so I just coated over ot with devcon 2 ton. GB GONE
By the way, there are a few nice aluminum molds on Ebay right now. Prices are nearly half of what they would cost new. Jim PS None of them are mine !!
Mojo
Yeah, they're Bass8's. I bid on one but got outbid right after. We really need to include our ebay name in our sig like you did Jim. I think I'll do that right now!
LedHed
Good idea Mojo. I use ledhedtu and I am sure I've probably "stepped on a few members toes" while bidding on molds (mostly leadheads). I'm not looking to bid against any TU members and will back off if notified. Just picked up a lot of 11 LC molds with accessories, was more after the hotplate and cups. I would like to offer the molds, I don't want, as a trade on this site. Would rather see a member have first shot but I think the swap forum was shut down.
GB GONE
Swap was shut down as it wasn't being used for its purpose. I have suggested a mold swap and have some I'm willing to loan out for a while. Its good to test them out before you sink the $$$, especially aluminum!! siebler_custom_baits
now that im back into SP maybe id be into a mold swap as well.
madbass
what do you guys type in for a search on ebay for molds?
LedHed
Mold swap sounds real good. madbass Go to sports - fishing and type in mold in the word search.
Mojo
Count me in on a mold swap. We need to establish between everyone involved the value of the different types of molds and what can be included as far as trade value. Aluminum, resin, silicone, pop, durham's, etc. Madbass, I use two searches. (worm mold, worm molds) and (mold, molds) in all categories. Use the parentheses for a more thorough search. I shouldn't be giving away my secrets like this! I have to admit it. My name's Joel and I'm a mold junkie!!!
siebler_custom_baits
IDK what kinda bait i would mold because yall use diff stuff then me.
sj_bill
CJ - We might share some of the same mold types. I do a lot of rockfish and ling fishing up here. I think a lot of the same lures for for calicos and bay bass. Having said that I only have a couple of molds right now
BassnG3
Jim (GaBassNerd) correct me if I am wrong but the type of mold swap you were refering to was more of a mold loan/swap. This would provide an opportunity to try out different molds before you purchase them to see if you like. Scott 'Tis the season
GB GONE
Thats right Scott!!! Swap or loan...
