Deadly Buck
What is the best way to clean an airbrush? Between colours and at the end of session.
Go55
I use airbrush for painting oil based paints and MCU clear coatings. After every session put disassemble air brush in small size metal baking pan then pour cleaning solvent like acetone. Brush them with an old toothbrush. Outlaw4
ive dabbled in all sorts of concoctions but mostly just buy the iwata cleaner in 32oz bottles now. in between colors mostly use reducer to flush. i have had some funny reactions between paint and some homebrew solutions so pretty much just stick to the brand name stuff.
ravenlures
Between colors (createx) I have an ice cream pail next to me with hot soapy water and use it to clean my air brushes, just dip a few times and clean. then when I have time I take apart and clean with restorer. As soon as a air brush gives me trouble I give it a good cleaning. No sense fighting with it. So its best to keep it clean, I only use water base paints sticking with createx products. RiverSmallieGuy
I do not own an airbrush, but I have watched a ton of videos about airbushes. You can generally buy airbrush cleaners from paint companies like Createx or somebody else who sells an airbrush cleaner. What I think could work as well is running some airbrush paint thinner through the brush thoroughly. Those products are also available from Createx I believe as well. Take this with a grain of salt, though, as I do not own an airbrush. Braden Edited March 9, 2022 by RiverSmallieGuy typo
Big Epp
I was using off brand window cleaner until I realized I was spraying ammonia into the air...
Bentrod425
Just water between colors and water or cleaner combined with partial tear down of the brush at the end of the session. Tear down includes pulling the needle and tip and cleaning up any paint residue. I also swab out the bowl with a q-tip.
Chris Catignani
I have some Evo Dyne I got at Micheals...not real particular about a brand...just came across it and I was out.
Fishermanbt
Iwata cleaner between colors, warm water flush at the end of session followed by some cleaner. Every so often I do a complete tear down (minus the air valve) and run it through a few cycles in the sonic cleaner with water and a bit of super clean or simple green.
