NJFishRGuy
I'm a bit confused... well, moreso than normal. Most formulas that I see for colors specify color additives in numbers of drops. For example, Motor Oil Camo 4 oz Plastic 5 drops natural brown 20 drops motor oil 2 drops green But some give the additive in grams, such as: watermelonseed- non bleeding Plastic : 5 gallons 6.8 grams school bus yellow. 4 grams black. 1/4 cup small black glitter. 1/4 cup large black glitter. Still others talk about hightlights, for example: Red Shad 1/2 cup plastic 25 drops black 1/4 tsp red highlite So my questions... 1. Are colors available as powders?2. If so, are they only used for very large batches?3. What are "highlights"?4. Are highlights powders or liquid?5. Where can I buy the "red highlight" mentioned above for the red shad? woodsac
Charlie, The hi lites come in a powder form. A 2 oz container is probably enough for 20 gallons of plastic! It only takes a tiny amount of hi lite added to the plastic. As for the grams, I'm unclear. Is it possible that particular person is not from the States? They may measure their coloring. Most of us simply count the drops we add to the plastic. That way you are able to be more consistent with your color formulas. You can buy the hi lites from LureCraft of M-F. http://www.lurecraft.com/catalog.htm http://www.fishingworld.com/M-F-Manufacturing/
NJFishRGuy
Thanks Jake... Does anyone have a non-secret, willing to share formula for red shad that doesn't use highlights?
